BREA : Priest to Teens, Gangs Is Breakfast Speaker

Father Christopher Smith, known for his ministry to gang members and runaway teen-agers, will be the featured speaker at the 13th annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast, hosted by the Brea Ministerial Assn. and the local Kiwanis Club.

Smith, of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Santa Ana, serves as vicar for religious education for the Diocese of Orange. He holds a master’s degree in religious education from Fordham University and a master’s in divinity from St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo.

The Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast will be at 7:30 a.m. April 25 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Brea. Tickets are $12 a person or $120 for a table of 10. They must be purchased in advance.
