Forget home-court advantage. Forget Denver for the Nuggets.

Denver snapped a three-game losing streak--all three losses were at home--Monday when Reggie Williams scored 13 of his 20 points in the third quarter of a 114-107 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves at Minneapolis.

The victory enabled the Nuggets, who have their best road record in five years, to move into eighth place, the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, half a game ahead of the Sacramento Kings.

Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf also had 20 before going out because of a leg bruise with 5:31 left.

“Maybe we should play the rest of our season on the road,” said Dikembe Mutombo, who had 14 points, 15 rebounds and nine blocks. “Maybe there’s too many distractions at home.”

Denver has seven regular-season games remaining, four at home. Sacramento has eight games left.

The Timberwolves lost their third in a row and eighth in the last nine games, despite Tom Gugliotta’s 30 points and 11 rebounds and Isaiah Rider’s 27 points.

Golden State 123, Dallas 112--Latrell Sprewell scored 30 points and Chris Mullin 26, half of them in the third quarter, as the Warriors hurt the Mavericks’ playoff chances at Dallas.

Dallas fell 2 1/2 games behind the Denver Nuggets in the race for the eighth and final Western Conference playoff spot.

Jamal Mashburn had 29 points and Popeye Jones added 21 to pace the Mavericks, who had won eight of their previous 11 games and five of their last six at home to move into playoff contention. Dallas’ Lorenzo Williams contributed 14 points and a career-high 19 rebounds.

Clifford Rozier had 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Warriors.

Charlotte 119, Boston 95--Alonzo Mourning scored 25 points and Hersey Hawkins had 23 in leading seven Hornets in double figures in a victory at Charlotte.
