Four Southland men were charged Tuesday with counterfeiting designer clothing after thousands of garments were seized from their offices in Los Angeles.

Bail for Yun Jun Kang, 40; Chang Suk Kang, 39, and Yoon Yong Kang, 42, all of Glendale, and Hamid Moghaddam Adeli, 53, of Encino was set at $500,000 each.

The charges against the four men follow a search of two businesses Thursday, one in the 700 block of Cerus Avenue and the other in the 700 block of Gladys Avenue, Deputy Dist. Atty. William D. Clark said.

Yun Jun Kang, the owner of both businesses, had been under surveillance by private detectives for Guess Inc. for some time, Clark said.

The defendants are accused of making designer labels and sewing them into blank garments, he said.

Seized from the businesses were thousands of bogus Guess shirts and sweat shirts and other garments bearing the designer names of Tommy Hilfiger and Girbaud, the prosecutor said. The defendants face maximum seven-year prison terms if convicted.
