Safety Program to Help Lost Seniors Get Home

Share

The Crime Resistance Involvement Council is offering a safety program to help senior citizens return home safely if they become lost because of memory loss and disorientation.

Every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to noon, senior citizens and others who need special care may register at the Center for Aging Resources, 447 N. El Molino Ave. in Pasadena, to have their photographs taken and vital information registered.

The information, including the phone number of a primary care giver, will be kept at the Police Department. Individuals who are lost and wandering the streets will be taken to the police station, where they can be identified and returned home safely.

The center will make other arrangements for people who are unable to make Tuesday’s registration.

People with Alzheimer’s disease may also register with the new nationwide Alzheimer’s Assn.’s “Safe Return” program for a one-time enrollment fee of $25. The fee includes a photograph, an identity bracelet or necklace, clothing labels, wallet ID cards and a 24-hour toll-free help line.

The Crime Resistance Involvement Council is funded by the Pasadena Police Department and is part of Fuller Seminary’s Graduate School of Psychology Center for Aging Resources.
