LA HABRA : District to Spend More for New Auditor
Saying that its finances need to be studied by someone new, La Habra City School District board has hired a new auditor to review the district’s accounts for the current school year.
Trustees decided to replace Corona-based Huffman & Coffman, which had been the district’s auditor for the past 12 years, with Boceta, Macon, Workman & Associates of San Bernardino.
The new firm already serves as auditor for 20 school districts across Southern California, including six in Orange County. It will be paid $11,250--about $5,000 more than what Huffman & Coffman would have received.
Supt. Richard Hermann said the school board, which heard presentations by five firms before making a choice, is not obligated to hire the least expensive auditor.
“The board felt it needed to have a new perspective on auditing our figures,” he said.
