*** Faith No More, “King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime,” Slash. This San Francisco band, which plays the Hollywood Palladium April 27, has built and undermined its career by regularly confounding expectations, hitting the Top 10 only to abandon it for cultish experimentation. With its fifth studio album, it has polished its eclectic superfunk-punk-pop hybrid, moving gracefully from smooth strings to nattering rock crunch. Fools no more.
Albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
