Talented typists and word-processor operators are invited to compete to represent Ventura County in the 18th annual National PC/Typing Contest sponsored by Western Temporary Services.

Local preliminaries will be held next week at Western’s Thousand Oaks office.

The contest is open to anyone 18 or older who types at least 80 words a minute.

All Ventura County participants will receive a free gift. Local winners will receive additional prizes.

The county’s fastest typists will have a chance to compete for the national first-place prize, a word processor and seven-day cruise for two to the Caribbean. Electronic typewriters and cash prizes will go to the second- and third-place winners.
