SANTA CLARITA : Man Gets 35-Year Term in Kidnaping of Agent

A Michigan man was sentenced Monday to 35 years in prison for kidnaping a Santa Clarita real estate agent while she was showing him a house, and leaving her tied up in an Arizona motel room two days later.

Heeding victim Paula Harrington’s plea for a long sentence, U.S. District Judge Edward Rafeedie said the 420-month term he ordered for Timothy D. Shue was “more than justified by the circumstances of this case.”

A jury deliberated 15 minutes Dec. 9 before finding Shue guilty of abducting the former Century 21 agent at gunpoint June 29 from a Val Verde home, tying her ankles and hands and driving her to Gila Bend, Ariz.

Along the way, he raped her several times, forced her to withdraw cash from automated teller machines and ordered her to pose as his wife while buying camping equipment in an Indio sporting goods store.
