FASHION : Todd Oldham Goes Hollywood

As of now, designer Todd Oldham has an L.A. address. Neither he nor his partner Tony Longoria can seem to remember exactly where, though. “We’ve signed a lease on a store,” announced Longoria phoning in from his New York office.

“And that would be . . . ?”

“On the corner of Beverly (Boulevard) and Martel (Avenue). I don’t know the address, but it’s on the same side of the street as Richard Tyler’s store ( location, location ), about a block and a half before you get to La Brea.” (Which puts it at 7386 Beverly Blvd.)

“When?” we asked breathlessly.

“We’re talking about opening for spring. That would be next February. We’ve got 1,500 square feet. It’s a free-standing building, right on the corner, with a wonderful curved marquee above the door. I’m sure Todd will do something fabulous with it.”

The new store will carry the Todd Oldham women’s collection, Times Seven (Oldham’s shirt line), shoes for women, a small collection for men, the designer’s new fragrance, accessories, the new jeans line and George products.

“George products?”

“Oh, it’s a pet-supply catalogue. . . . You know, chew toys and dog bowls that people buy and use for cereal bowls.”

Dogs are totally welcome in the designer’s other store, in Soho.

“Do you think Los Angeles people walk their dogs? Will they come to the store?” he asked.

“Maybe they’ll stop by in the way to the dog parks,” we tell him.

“Dog park?”

“A place where dogs can run and play and not be on a leash.”

“What a great idea, a dog park. Well, they can come by on their way to the dog park.”
