FULLERTON : Kids Will Get Help Preparing for School
Fullerton School District board members have approved a program that will help 50 preschool-age children and their parents prepare for kindergarten during the summer.
They approved spending $9,000 on the Even Start Program at Richman Elementary School.
The program is designed to promote family literacy and prepare children for success in kindergarten, district officials said.
As part of the program, parents will attend adult education classes and participate in activities geared toward achieving academic success.
Classes will be taught by three teachers--two of them bilingual kindergarten teachers--and three aides.
Eligible families must have children currently enrolled in preschool and must live in the Maple, Richman, Woodcrest or Valencia Park attendance areas.
