Brethren Christian’s pitcher Brooke Hofstetter struck out a school-record 30 in a 16-inning, 1-0 victory over Whittier Christian on Thursday at Brethren Christian.

Hofstetter, who gave up eight hits, broke the record of 20 strikeouts, set by Michelle Rueter in 1992.

Hofstetter’s total is 10 short of the Orange County record held by Valencia’s Michele Granger. Granger struck out 40 against La Mirada in 1988.
