Rookie Dave Roberts ended a third-period tie with his fourth goal of the week--and of his NHL career--as the St. Louis Blues defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs, 3-1, Friday night at St. Louis.
Roberts has played much of the season with Peoria, Ill., of the International Hockey League, but he has four of the Blues’ last eight goals--including both goals in a 2-2 tie with Chicago on Wednesday.
Winnipeg 2, Chicago 1--Teppo Numminen and Stephane Quintal scored power-play goals for the Jets at Chicago to extend the Blackhawks’ winless streak to 12 games.
Washington 6, Hartford 3--Peter Bondra scored three goals as the Capitals took sole possession of sixth place in the Eastern Conference playoff race at Landover, Md.

NHL Notes
Andy Moog, Dallas Star goalie, could be sidelined for up to three weeks because of a right hamstring injury. Moog hopes to be out only a week. . . . Chicago veteran center Denis Savard left the game against Winnipeg with an apparent rib injury after being hit by the Jets’ Keith Tkachuk.
