SANTA MONICA : Shopper at Mall Attacked With Stun Gun

Share

A woman was attacked last week in a Santa Monica department store when another woman burst into her dressing room and shocked her with a stun gun.

Police arrested Denise Dennis, 27, on charges of felony assault with a stun gun. Dennis is reportedly from San Diego, but police described her as a transient.

The attack occurred Tuesday as the victim was trying on clothes in the Robinsons-May store at Santa Monica Place mall, said Police Sgt. Gary Gallinot. Two store security officers, hearing the victim’s screams, rushed into the dressing room and restrained Dennis, Gallinot said.

The unidentified victim was shocked several times but did not seek medical attention.

“It is not illegal to carry or use a stun gun for self-defense, but it becomes a felony to use it in an offensive manner,” Gallinot said.
