PASADENA: The American Intercultural Student Exchange Foundation is seeking families in the Pasadena area to host students from around the world for a school year or semester. Families provide room and board for the high school students and may receive a $50-a-month tax deduction. Student autobiographies are available for review. PASADENA: Pasadena City College is building a Child Development Center. The center will be a modern expanded facility for child care and will provide training for 45 college students in child development. The cost of the two-story building is estimated at $3.8 million. The center will be able to accommodate 100 infants, preschool and kindergarten-age children. In the evenings there will be programs for school-age children. The facility replaces an old set of classrooms that are located at the former site of McKinely Junior High School. Completion of the center is expected in February, 1996.

TEMPLE CITY: The Temple City Unified School District has received a Board Achievement Award from the California School Boards Assn., a nonprofit group representing more than 5,000 locally elected school board members in California. The association acknowledged the graduation of Temple City school board members Wesley Wolfe, Mike Palmer and Jerri Williamson from the association’s master of boardmanship program.

THE REGION: To commemorate its 100th anniversary, the Chinese American Citizens Alliance, a national civil rights organization, is sponsoring a National Art Competition for students in first grade through high school. The theme is “Festivals and Celebrations of Chinese Americans.” To enter, students must submit an original artwork, 18 by 24 inches, on or before April 29. Cash awards range from $100 to $500.
