REGION : Councils Pick Mayors and Mayors Pro Tem

Share

Several city councils have recently completed their annual ritual of naming new mayors and mayors pro tem to serve for the next year.

Mayors have no more voting power than other council members. They preside over council meetings, sign new laws and resolutions, and represent the council at community events. When they are absent, mayors pro tem take over those duties.

The new Santa Fe Springs mayor is scheduled to be chosen tonight, the La Habra Heights mayor will be selected May 11, and Downey’s new mayor will be selected in June.
