COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Pierce Wins on Villasenor’s Homer

Mandy Villasenor’s two-run home run in the eighth inning gave the Pierce College softball team a 6-4 victory over Moorpark in a Western State Conference game Wednesday at Pierce.
Villasenor’s home run, her second of the season, followed a one-out single by Gracey Ramirez.
Brahma pitcher Anna Calzada (9-6) allowed eight hits and no walks while striking out three.
Kim O’Leary had four hits for Pierce (19-15, 9-5 in conference play). Kelly Lovato took the loss for the Raiders (11-3 in conference play).
Ventura 7, Bakersfield 0--Kristine Garcia, who went two for three, hit a three-run triple in the fourth to help the Pirates in the WSC game at Ventura.
Tammy Peck had a two-run triple in the first after Deanna Estrada started the inning with a triple for Ventura (30-20, 10-4).
Valley 5, Santa Monica 1--Kady Kepner had a solo home run in the fifth and two runs batted in to lead the Monarchs (12-17, 4-10) in a WSC game at Santa Monica.
Jennifer Moulden (4-7) allowed three hits and struck out five for Valley (12-17, 4-10).
Canyons 4, Cuesta 2--Jennifer Sprague, who went three for five with a double, singled with the bases loaded in the 11th inning for the Cougars (19-15, 7-8) in a WSC game at Cuesta.
Kasey Miller of Canyons singled home Lisa Kelley in the seventh to tie the score, 2-2, and force extra innings.
BASEBALL
The Master’s 22, Biola 6--The Mustangs (18-18) pounded out 18 hits off seven Biola pitchers in a nonconference game at Master’s. Biola fell to 17-23.
Mustang starter Ryan Dowhower (3-5) pitched six innings and earned the victory. He was followed by Steve Rogers in the seventh and Mark Balch in the ninth.
Dan Prentice had four hits, including a grand slam, for Master’s.
Matt Huter added two hits and four RBIs and Derek Bell had three hits and four RBIs for the Mustangs.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Redlands 8, Cal Lutheran 1--Randi Christiansen and Anna Olson earned a victory at No. 1 doubles for the Regals in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match at Cal Lutheran.
Despite the loss, Cal Lutheran (6-9, 4-3) finished fourth in the SCIAC. Redlands (12-8, 5-2) finished in third place.
