Albert Moldvay; Magazine Photographer

Albert Moldvay, 74, a popular photographer for National Geographic magazine who wrote a syndicated advice column called “Your Photos.” Moldvay was staff photographer and chief of film review at National Geographic for 15 years and wrote the book “The National Geographic Photographer’s Field Guide.” His column, which answered the questions of amateur photographers, was syndicated by the Los Angeles Times Syndicate from 1982 to 1986. He also served as photo columnist for Westways magazine. With his wife and partner, Erika Fabian, Moldvay had just completed “The Ph.D. Guide for Travel Photographers,” scheduled for publication in June. The couple also wrote eight Amphoto Travel Guide Books, featuring Los Angeles, New York, Washington, London, Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, and Mexico City. The prize-winning Moldvay was active in the National Press Photographers Assn. and served as president of the Southern California Chapter of the American Society of Magazine Photographers.
