U.S. Seeks Mediator for South Korea Dispute: The “hot dog dispute” between the two nations has reached the World Trade Organization after negotiators failed last week to settle the trade flap that had spread to a host of food products. A senior U.S. trade official said Washington has requested bilateral consultations with South Korea under the auspices of the WTO to resolve the increasingly bitter disagreement over Korea’s regulations on imported meat and other food products.
