SIMI VALLEY : Transit Panel on Disabled Expanded

Share

An unexpected clamor for seats on a Simi Valley transit panel has led the City Council to expand the committee to allow more residents to participate.

The Americans with Disabilities Act Paratransit Advisory Committee has been expanded from three to five members, with two additional residents serving as alternates.

The panel reviews the city’s policy on transit for disabled residents and makes recommendations to the City Council.

About one-third of the 13,500 annual passenger trips on the city’s Dial-A-Ride bus service are taken by residents with disabilities.

The new members of the committee are Estelle Marks, Gerald Snyder, Karen Smith, Brice Yoder and Judith Holt. Serving as alternates are Michael Lisowski and Tom Lucero.

The terms begin immediately and are staggered to run one or two years each.
