THOUSAND OAKS : Speed Bumps Urged for Ventu Park Road
Responding to neighbors’ concerns, Thousand Oaks traffic planners are recommending speed humps for a section of Ventu Park Road.
Residents submitted a petition earlier this year asking for the speed humps. But in March, the city’s Traffic and Transportation Advisory Commission voted 3 to 2 against installing the bumps, saying the humps might worsen drainage problems and slow emergency responses.
The residents appealed the traffic commission’s decision to the City Council, and city planners are urging council members at Tuesday’s meeting to approve installation of six, two-inch high speed humps.
The bumps would be placed on a one-third mile stretch of Ventu Park Road between Lynn Road and the city’s southern border.
