CAMARILLO : Aerial Spraying Scheduled Tonight

Share

Agriculture officials are set to conduct their 13th aerial spraying of the pesticide malathion over eastern Camarillo tonight in their continuing battle against the crop-destroying Mediterranean fruit fly.

Barring bad weather, four helicopters will leave Camarillo Airport at 9 p.m. to begin their four-hour spray mission over the 16-square-mile Medfly eradication zone.

National Weather Service meteorologists Monday forecast clear, dry skies for tonight with very light winds for most of Ventura County.

State regulations forbid aerial spraying of pesticides whenever there is a 50% or greater chance of rain within the first 24 hours after an application, or whenever winds are 10 m.p.h. or higher over the spray zone.
