Hattie Margie Ivy; Lifelong County Resident

Hattie Margie Patterson Ivy, a lifelong Ventura County resident, has died. She was 49.

A native of Ventura, Ivy died at UCLA Medical Center on Wednesday after a long illness, said her husband, Jim Ivy Jr.

After attending Oxnard College, Hattie Ivy worked for the Port Hueneme Navy base and later was employed by Vitro Laboratories, where she made blueprints for airplanes and missiles, according to her husband. She worked there until she became ill.

She was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church and was active in several organizations in Oxnard, said Jim Ivy.

Hattie Ivy was an avid bowler who also enjoyed sewing. She spent many hours making dresses for the daughters of fellow church members and for neighbors and their dolls.

In addition to her husband, Ivy is survived by two daughters, Waconda J. Alvarez of Oxnard and Stephanie R. Porter of Port Hueneme; two stepchildren, Charlotte Allen of Oregon and Larry Ivy of Compton; two grandsons, and two sisters.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Garcia Mortuary in Oxnard.
