NORTH HOLLYWOOD : Health Fair Planned for School and Public

A community health fair will be held from noon to 4 p.m. today at James Madison Middle School in North Hollywood.

Health care providers will offer 25 different health services, tests, screenings and information at the event, which is open free to the public. Students at the school, a health-medical careers magnet school, will have the day off to attend the fair.

Representatives of Northridge Hospital Medical Center, Granada Hills Medical Center, Tarzana Treatment Center, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Assn., Olive View/UCLA Medical Center, El Nido Family Services, Friends of the Family, Mission College and the Los Angeles Unified School District Drug-Free Schools Program will participate in the fair, as well as several other organizations.

Screening exams for lung capacity, blood pressure, tuberculosis and hearing and vision will be available. Videotaped programs on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), earthquake preparedness and basic first aid also will be shown.

Immunizations for children will be offered by the North Hollywood Health Department, and local counseling groups will distribute information on parenting, crisis resolution, suicide prevention and family mental health.

All services offered at the fair are free and available to the public. The school is at 13000 Hart St.
