Share

A Newport Beach developer will ask the Camarillo Planning Commission tonight to consider approving the third and final phase of the Camarillo factory outlet mall.

Chelsea GCA Realty Inc. will ask the commission to consider the 209,000-square-foot addition to the mall, which is on Ventura Boulevard between Las Posas Road and Carmen Drive.

The third phase would add 40 stores to the project, whose first 165,000-square-foot phase opened Feb. 28, according to Susie Plummer, a spokeswoman for the development company.

Construction on the mall’s second, 80,000-square-foot phase is under way. Plummer said it will add 20 stores.

Plummer said if the Planning Commission approves the final phase, construction could begin in early 1996 and finish about a year later. Once completed, the mall would measure an estimated 454,000 square feet and feature more than 100 stores.

Camarillo officials estimate the mall will generate $400,000 to $500,000 in annual sales tax revenues for the city.

The Planning Commission meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 601 Carmen Drive.
