Wonder Jock: When More Is Better

W omen have been altering their shape with undergarments for years. Now men can experience the uplifting effects of shape-enhancing accessories, thanks to the Wonder Jock.

Sharon Davis, a buyer for Lingerie for Less, created the padded front thong in stretch satin after being inspired by that fashion hit, the Wonder Bra.

The jock’s available for about $10 in “jet black, ravishing red, hunter green and leopard print” at Lingerie for Less stores in Costa Mesa, Cypress, Fullerton, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Laguna Niguel, Orange and Santa Ana.

Last fall, during the Wonder Bra hoopla, I was having dinner with friends, and I said, “Someone should make a Wonder Jock so men can enhance their assets.” My friends said, “You can make it happen,” so I went about finding a way to produce it.

The Wonder Jock hit our stores around March. We’ve had to reorder it twice.

I just felt that women have tools to appear sexy and that men should have some of those tools. It’s the ‘90s, after all, and men are just as vain as women. They’re having hair transplants, and there is a market for this type of product.

Men are buying it for themselves, and women are buying it for their men. It’s a great gift for a man who has everything. A woman can give it to man who realizes more is better than less. It’s for show, to get attention.

It’s padded in the front, and the buns are exposed, so it’s very comfortable. I’ve seen on a model how it enhances a man under clothing.

It looks great under a pair of 501 jeans, swimsuits, gym shorts or suit trousers--anything that is snug. He can wear it every day and not just on special occasions.

I haven’t interviewed anyone who’s worn it, but I would think it would give a man a feeling of self-confidence and manliness.

It does for a man what a pushup bra does for a woman. It gives him sex appeal. Just like a woman feels when a pushup bra shows off cleavage, he can feel sexy in his Wonder Jock. I see the two products as parallel.
