Prayers for County’s Fiscal Recovery

Share

I write this letter to express how I felt on Thursday, May 11, when Orange County held its first, as I recall, “prayer group meeting” outside the [County] Hall of Administration. It was time that something like this was done. I was so choked up to be there in the middle of such a beautiful moment, with my hands raised in the air singing praises to God and saying prayers and getting into groups to pray. My heart was full of joy. I can imagine how God felt to see 500 of His creation out there giving praise and asking for His wisdom for our leaders and for those families who lost their jobs.

I have worked in that building for the past 11 years, and I have seen many groups protesting for one thing or another--food drives, arrests and the homeless--but never would I have imagined that someday I would be singing and praying with a group of people outside the Hall of Administration. It was the most fulfilling lunchtime I have ever spent during my working years.

* How interesting that Orange County leaders took part in a “prayer meeting” recently. What we should all be praying for is the resignation of the Board of Supervisors.

* “A Heavenly Bond” (May 12) attracted my attention. Pastor Chuck Smith misspoke. Shouldn’t he have said, “Man’s greed got us into this problem, the taxpayers will get us out.” Amen!
