Lorraine Frost, 80, of Canyon Country, a passenger in the Honda Civic that broadsided the Jeep, was airlifted to Northridge Hospital Medical Center in critical condition, a hospital spokeswoman said. The driver of the Honda, 44-year-old Kay Marino, also of Canyon Country, was listed in fair condition at Holy Cross Medical Center, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

The Jeep was eastbound on Soledad Canyon Road when it skidded and crossed into the path of the oncoming Honda near Deep Creek Drive, Gump said.

“At this time, [investigators] have no idea why the Jeep went into the other lane,” he said.
