Three-Over Par 75 Leaves USC’s Wright Tied for 4th

USC golfer Chad Wright, a Buena High graduate, shot a three-over par 75 Saturday to finish the NCAA men’s golf championships at Columbus, Ohio, with a 286, good for a three-way tie for fourth in the individual competition.
Cal’s Charlie Wi, of Westlake, shot 71, finishing tied for 11th at 288.
Baseball
Palmdale High catcher Chris Paxton was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 45th round on the final day of the major league amateur draft.
The Philadelphia Phillies took Poly shortstop Jose Sandoval in the 51st round and Royal catcher Ben Lemos in the 52nd. The St. Louis Cardinals took North Hollywood pitcher Mike Delano in the 57th round and Pierce catcher Mike Glendenning in the 64th.
