Attorney Jess J. Araujo has been elected president of the Board of Trustees of the Orange County Bar Foundation, known for its crime-prevention programs for youth.

As president, Araujo will oversee the nonprofit foundation’s fund-raising and crime-diversion programs for youth, including Programma Shortstop and Legal Education for Youth. He has been active with the group since 1989, when he became co-chair of Programma Shortstop, which has removed thousands of first-time offenders from the juvenile justice system by teaching the consequences of criminal behavior and helping minors to return to school and their families.

“We are all working for a common cause, and as president I encourage the entire community, from parents and teachers to legal professionals and corporate America, to embrace the Bar Foundation because our kids are the ultimate beneficiaries,” Araujo said in a statement.
