CAMARILLO : City to Replace Trees on 3 Streets

Share

Because many trees along Arneill and Las Posas roads and along parts of Charter Oaks Drive are diseased or damaging sidewalks, Camarillo city officials announced recently a program to replace the sickly and destructive landscaping with new, non-damaging varieties.

John Elwell, the city’s director of community services, said the ficus and melaleuca found along the roadways will be replaced with Canary Island pines, Crepe Myrtles and young silk trees.

“Removing and replacing mature trees is always a matter of community concern,” Elwell said in a statement. “Before moving ahead with this project, the City Council wanted to ensure that residents had an opportunity to offer their input and to learn more about why this program is necessary.”

Elwell said the project should be completed by the end of July. Residents requesting further information on the project can call the city at at 388-5380.
