Batgate is over. The American League found Monday that Tony Phillips’ bat, confiscated at the request of the New York Yankees Sunday, was “clean and legal,” X-rays showing no sign of tampering or an illegal substance. A league spokeswoman said the bat was sent via an express service to Boston, where the Angels began a two-game series Monday. . . . Starting catcher Greg Myers, sidelined since Wednesday because of a strained left thigh muscle, was put on the 15-day disabled list, and second baseman Damion Easley, who has a sprained wrist, may join him there today.
