BURBANK : Council Appoints 3 to Airport Authority

The Burbank City Council has named a writer and two lawyers to serve as permanent representatives on the board of nine commissioners that oversees the Burbank Airport.

Appointed to the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority on Tuesday were writer Margie A. Gee and attorneys Philip E. Berlin and Ingolf Klengler.

They replace former airport authority President Brian Bowman and former Burbank City Councilmen Bob Bowne and George Battey Jr., who had supported plans to build a larger terminal that would expand the airport’s operations.

With a new majority on the council opposed to increased aircraft noise and automobile traffic, Gee, Berlin and Klengler say they share the same feelings and promise to be equally conscious of the airport’s negative impacts on Burbank residents.

Gee and Klengler both live under the airport’s flight path, about a mile south of the facility. Berlin is co-founder of the Verdugo-Magnolia Park Homeowners Assn.

Gee and Berlin had been interim appointees to the airport authority until Tuesday, when their terms were extended indefinitely.
