ORANGE : Second Man Dies After May Car Crash

A 70-year-old man who was critically injured in a traffic collision in Anaheim last month died Wednesday.
Charles Thompkins of Garden Grove was driving with a friend, Dudley Cates, 77, on May 23 when a car driven by Amador Oregon, 23, of Tustin ran a red light and collided with them, killing Cates, police said. The accident occurred at Euclid Street and Lincoln Avenue.
Oregon suffered moderate injuries. Thompkins had been hospitalized at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
Oregon was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter while driving under the influence. He remains in custody. A second charge of manslaughter is expected to be filed now, police said.
