Share

Port Hueneme police are offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of a man who attempted to kidnap a young boy on a city street last month.

According to Sgt. Jerry Beck, a 10-year-old Port Hueneme boy was walking home from Bard School on May 31. In the 600 block of East Pleasant Valley Road, police said, a man grabbed the boy and threw him in the front seat of his car. About two blocks away, the boy escaped when the man stopped the car at a stop sign.

“The boy is extremely distraught,” Beck said.

The boy described his assailant to police as a Latino man in his mid-30s with black hair. The man was wearing a black baseball cap, black jacket and black jeans, the boy told police. The boy said the man was driving a black two-door sedan with orange flames painted on the sides.
