COMPTON : Funeral Scheduled for Boy Fatally Mauled by Dogs

Funeral services for Gilberto Martinez, the 5-year-old fatally mauled by three German shepherd watchdogs in a yard next to his home, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Victory Church in Compton.
The boy was attacked by the dogs when he chased a ball that had gone over a chain-link fence and into the yard.
Several terrified neighbors witnessed the attack, unable to help.
Gilberto died of his wounds three hours later.
A church spokesman said a number of people had made donations to help the family pay for the funeral.
