OXNARD : Amnesty Offered on Dog License Renewals

Share

The city of Oxnard is offering amnesty for residents who have not renewed their dogs’ licenses.

Delinquent dog licenses can be renewed without penalties until July 15. The city usually charges a penalty of 100% of the money owed.

Licenses cost $25 a year and are required of everyone who owns or keeps a dog over the age of 4 months. The license fee drops to $7.50 for dogs that have been spayed or neutered.

Susan Laird, a collector for the city’s License Division, said the number of dog licenses issued has been declining since the city eliminated a door-to-door license fee collection program a few years ago.

“Our goal is to try to get all of the delinquent dogs back into the system,” she said. Residents may obtain licenses from Oxnard City Hall by showing proof of a current rabies vaccination. Those applying for the reduced rate also must show a sterility certificate. For more information call 385-7817 or 385-7640.
