Education’s Reward: Team MacPherson, the Irvine-based automotive dealership group founded by longtime auto dealer Joe MacPherson, has guaranteed a minimum donation of $50,000 to Orange County elementary and secondary schools over the summer.

Through Labor Day, MacPherson dealerships will donate $50 for each car or truck sold or leased. Customers will be able to select the school to which each donation will go.

MacPherson, whose three children went to school in Orange County and whose grandchildren are now attending county schools, said that while he guarantees a minimum of $50,000, there is no upper limit.

The money is to go directly to the schools for the purchase of supplies such as library books, sports and music equipment and art and instructional materials.
