BRIEFLY : Red Line: Vote on Wilshire Route Set
The MTA Board of Directors is scheduled to vote Wednesday on whether to study Wilshire Boulevard as a possible route for the western extension of the Red Line.
A final decision has been postponed for several months. The original plan for the line was a subway underneath Wilshire, but a 1985 methane gas explosion in the Fairfax district prompted Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Los Angeles) to prohibit all Red Line construction along Wilshire in his district. The MTA changed its map for the Red Line to avoid Wilshire.
The MTA meeting is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at the county Hall of Administration, 500 Temple St.
