VENTURA : School District, City to Meet
Seeking to create a more cooperative approach to issues that affect both agencies, the Ventura City Council and the Ventura Unified School District governing board will hold a joint meeting tonight--the first of its kind in recent years.
Council and school board members are scheduled to discuss several issues considered key to the city and the district, including providing after-school activities for students and library funding.
“The schools play an important role in the experience of our community’s youth, but so do parents and activities of the city,” Mayor Tom Buford said.
“We need to work together as closely as we can to support our youth for the benefit of the entire community,” he said.
Council and school board members also will discuss a report from a task force that studied proposals to benefit the city’s young people.
The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the community meeting room at City Hall.
