WESTMINSTER : Summer Programs Set by School District

The Westminster School District is offering summer camp programs for children in kindergarten through the sixth grade, as well as a program for youngsters between 18 months and 5 years old, a district spokeswoman said.

The camps for kindergarten through sixth-grade students will be from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at two locations: Land School, 15151 Temple St., and Frank N. Eastwood Elementary School, 13552 University St. A third site, Meairs Elementary School, 8441 Trask Ave., will offer activities from 12:20 to 6 p.m. as an extension of the summer school program, said spokeswoman Audrey Brown.

The programs emphasize science and discovery, sports and the “wild West,” with two field trips each week. Tuition is based on attendance and the maximum cost is about $80 a week, Brown said.

Children from 18 months to 5 years old are welcomed at the Land Center for a summer program that runs from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The program includes field trips as well as classroom and playground activities.
