Parents of Abandoned 3-Year-Old Boy Found

SMITHSBURG, Md. — A Maryland couple who allegedly abandoned their 3-year-old boy in a California shopping mall were located on the Appalachian Trail on Monday, and the mother was held on an unrelated charge.
After receiving a tip from a trail maintenance worker, Washington County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Rick Ziolkowski found Wolfgang Nester, 23, and Lisa Nester, 24, in the High Rock area near the Pennsylvania border.
Lisa Nester was held on a failure to appear warrant for failing to support another child in 1993.
Wolfgang Nester Jr., 3, was found June 2 alone, wearing dirty overalls and a stained shirt, in a shopping center in San Bernardino.
