THOUSAND OAKS : Summer Jobs for Youths Still Available
Thousand Oaks youths ages 14 to 21 can apply for summer jobs at local businesses through the Job Training Policy Council.
Director Milli Kelly said that though similar programs throughout the county are full, the Thousand Oaks program has 33 of its 41 positions still available.
The youths, who could begin work immediately, would earn $4.25 an hour and also could be paid for attending summer school, Kelly said.
“The program serves youth that ordinarily would not have an opportunity to work in the summer. It provides valuable work experience habits and also keeps them occupied,” JTPC supervisor Jenaro Valdez said.
The program is designed for low-income youths, but others also may be eligible, officials said.
