Iwerks Entertainment Inc.: The Burbank designer and operator of high-technology entertainment rides said Wednesday that it will move its Touring Technologies division, which has 50 employees, from Newport Beach next month and merge it with operations at the company’s headquarters. The company said it expects the move to save $1 million annually beginning in fiscal 1996. Thomas Gimple, president of the Touring Technologies division, will assume the newly expanded post of executive vice president of operations, responsible for all manufacturing and operations at the company. The Touring Technologies division had been in charge of the company’s portable simulation theaters, which are transported by trailer to events such as air shows, fairs, festivals, and rock concerts.
