SIMI VALLEY : Businessman Joins Assembly Seat Race

Share

Promising to cut the size of government and reform the state education system, a Canoga Park businessman announced his candidacy for a state Assembly seat that also represents Simi Valley and Fillmore.

Ross Hopkins, a Republican, is competing for a seat now held by Paula Boland (R-Granada Hills), who will step down next year because of term limits. Boland’s district includes portions of the northwest San Fernando Valley.

“Our economy is suffering, our businesses are over-regulated, our children are undereducated and we have a massive crime problem,” Hopkins said in a prepared statement. “We need to start shaking things up and make some real progress toward fixing some of the problems that are plaguing our state.”
