‘90s-Style ‘Little Rascals’ Opens Festival

Golden West College begins its Outdoor Family Film Festival tonight with “The Little Rascals,” the recent comedy based on the popular film series about Buckwheat, Alfalfa and Spanky.

Up next, on July 14, is “We’re Back: A Dinosaur’s Story.” This 1993 animated movie features the voices of Martin Short, John Goodman and Walter Cronkite.

“Beethoven,” about a troublesome St. Bernard, screens July 21. On July 28, “Black Beauty” will be offered. This recent adaptation of Anna Sewell’s story stars English actors David Thewlis and Sean Bean.

“The Secret Garden” will screen Aug. 4. Agnieszka Holland directed this 1993 film about an orphan girl who finds joy romping through a mysterious garden. On Aug. 11, “Free Willy” is scheduled. The 1993 movie centers on the love between a whale and a small boy.

The series closes with “The Parent Trap.” Hayley Mills stars in this 1961 picture about twins who try to reunite their divorced parents.
