A recent benefit to raise money for the family of Police Officer Danny Valenzuela, who died in May, brought in about $2,000, city officials said.

Half of the money received from purchases of food at a McDonald’s restaurant on East Imperial Highway for three hours on June 21 was donated to the Valenzuela memorial fund.

Valenzuela died after suffering a heart attack during a bicycle training exercise with officers from several Orange County law enforcement agencies.
