Randy Moody of Ventura, capitalizing on the absence of Daryl Rogers and Ricky Gray, both of whom have moved up to the more-powerful Sprint Car Racing Assn. competition, took a one-third-lap victory in the 30-lap feature at Ventura Raceway.
Moody, who earned his first Sprint Car victory June 10 at Mojave Valley, took the lead from Cal Smith of Montclair following a 16th-lap restart after a three-car collision brought out the caution flag.
Moody started sixth and worked his way to second when Tracy Van Blargen of Camarillo, Danny Ent of Big Bear Lake and Paul Hewlett of Simi Valley tangled in the second turn of Lap 15.
Van Blargen’s car was grounded by a fuel leak, and Hewlett had to pull into the pits to replace a bent rear wheel.
