BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : DODGERS : Second-Half Pitching Rotation Set
The Dodgers were planning on having Hideo Nomo open the second half of the season until he was selected to the All-Star game, and now have settled on the following order for the second half: Tom Candiotti, Ramon Martinez, Nomo, Ismael Valdes and Willie Banks.
That means Nomo will be making his next start Saturday against the Florida Marlins at Dodger Stadium where he’ll be matched against Bobby Witt.
The Dodgers won’t have the luxury of skipping the fifth starter until September. Beginning Thursday, they have games scheduled on 45 of the next 46 days.

Cincinnati Red owner Marge Schott became incensed Sunday at the amount of paper the Dodgers were using for their press notes.
It was explained to her that the Dodgers, like other visiting teams, provide their own paper, but she wasn’t appeased. She reminded her employees, there still was a wear and tear on her copier machines.
A week ago, Schott asked the publicity department to limit their notes to one page. She was told it was unfeasible, particularly considering the Reds have the finest record in the National League.
She then asked if just one set of notes could be written and passed around the press box for everyone to share.
