San Gabriel Valley : TAX CUT

Share

Pomona City Council members have bucked the tax-hiking trend and instead voted to cut commercial utility taxes.

The city now tacks a 12% charge on commercial utility bills, one of the highest rates in the state; that rate will drop to 10%.

City Administrator Severo Esquivel said the goal is to keep slashing taxes to spur development and attract more businesses to Pomona. In recent years, the city’s largest businesses have left.

“This doesn’t go as far as we think it should go, but it is a step in the right direction,” Esquivel said.
