Update : Adult Shop Renews Bid to Expand
The owner of Paradise Specialties, an adult-oriented store, has appealed to the City Council a denial of her request to expand her business.
The Planning Commission recently denied store owner Rosalie Taddeo’s request, saying that a recently amended city law prohibits new adult businesses from opening within 500 feet of any educational facility frequented by minors. Taddeo’s shop is 220 feet from Golden West College.
Susan Pierce, a city associate planner, said the commission based its decision on information from the college that thousands of children are on campus every year for special activities such as swim meets.
